En 1998, la Trilogie du samedi entre dans une phase de maturité où M6 assume pleinement son statut de vitrine des séries de genre américaines. La grille est portée par l’ambiance conspirationniste rétro de « Dark Skies : l’impossible vérité« , qui impose sa paranoïa SF au cœur de la soirée. Dans le même temps, la chaîne consolide le versant thriller psychologique avec la diffusion en continu des saisons 1 et 2 de « Profiler« , tandis que « Le caméléon » revient pour une saison 2 riche en épisodes emblématiques, poursuivant la cavale insaisissable de Jarod. Les enquêtes musclées de « The Sentinel » s’installent durablement à travers les rediffusions des saisons 1 et 2, mais aussi une saison 3 inédite, offrant un socle d’action récurrent au bloc du samedi. Enfin, M6 muscle sa ligne éditoriale avec l’intégrale de « Players : les maîtres du jeu » et de « FX : effets spéciaux, la série« , deux séries plus orientées casse, arnaques et mise en scène spectaculaire, qui complètent ce puzzle très 90’s où se côtoient complots extraterrestres, tueurs en série, justiciers sensoriels et experts de l’illusion.
